Vanessa Rousso explains her Path to becoming a DJ

by Jeremy Olson

Pretty much all of Vanessa Rousso’s fame comes through the poker world, where she’s made over $3.5 million in tournaments. Add in the fact that Rousso is a prominent face on Team PokerStars, and it’s easy to see why she’s one of the world’s most famous players.

But poker isn’t Rousso’s only passion because she’s recently been branching out into the music industry too. As the 30-year-old explained in a PokerStars segment, she went to school at UC Berkeley and learned a great deal about music there. Before long, she was DJing parties at her house and composing music on the side.

After meeting a successful Las Vegas-based DJ named Lisa Pittman, Rousso was able to improve her craft even more. And now she’s doing some major nightclub gigs and parties while working with Pittman.

So does this mean that she’ll be leaving the poker world behind? Well it’s always a possibility, but Rousso has still been making appearances at tournaments in 2013. Plus she’s a member of Team PokerStars, which means she’ll need to stay active to continue meeting her contract demands.

However, it’s also pretty clear that Rousso is serious about this DJing career. You can hear her explain the whole matter in the following PokerStars video clip:
