Ultimate Bet Resigns Poker Pro, Brandon Cantu

by AintLuck.com Poker Team

They are back in the news once again. Whether they are announcing a new promotion or responding to allegations of impropriety, popular online poker site UB.com, part of the CEREUS poker network along with Absolute Poker are making headlines on an almost daily basis. If nothing else, this trend is keeping its name at the forefront of the online poker community, for better or for worse. This time the news is not at all bad as UB.com has announced that popular and highly successful online poker pro Brandon Cantu, has decided to remain with them for at least 1 more year.

The announcement comes just as the World Series of Poker is in full swing in Las Vegas with the furious action all around the Rio Hotel and Casino. Originally, Cantu joined UB.com in May 2009 and has been representing the site continuously ever since. Most, if not all observers agree that the resigning is a positive mood for the oft-embattled online poker site. In his career to date, Cantu, who resides in Sin City, has earned more than $3.6 million is tournament winnings. In addition to the cash, Cantu is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner, taking down a $1,500 No Limit tournament in 2006, as well as a $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha High-Low Split Eight or Better in last year’s series. If that’s not enough, Cantu’s poker resume is bolstered by a WPT win at the 2008 Bay 101 Shooting Star event.

Of the re-signing, Cantu issued the following statement,

“I am very pleased to extend my relationship with UB. I have appreciated the commitment UB has shown me over the last year and I look forward to a longstanding relationship with them. I hope to be able to not only play for UB at a high level, but also contribute to making UB an amazing place to play poker for the entire community.”

With Cantu on their side as a highly visible ambassador, perhaps UB.com still has a chance to re-earn the public’s trust.
