by AintLuck.com Poker Team

In the not too distant past, it had become almost expected that any news coming out regarding online poker site UltimateBet would center around some type of negative publicity. Over the past year, UltimateBet has been working frantically to restore it’s once good name in the minds of players and interested parties in the industry. In keeping up with this theme, this past week, it was announced that they are now launching a site called UltimateBet.de, a variant of its main site that will be completely in German and will provide up to the minute updates of news surrounding UltimateBet’s newly created series of live poker tournaments in Germany and the Czech Republic.

The first such event will be taking place this Saturday, October 24th in the German city of Cologne. As part of this event which has a cheap buy in of just 25 Euros, the winner will drive away with a brand new Mercedes Smart Car, once of the world’s most eco-friendly and fuel-efficient automobiles.

If that’s not enough, on November 11th, the city of Aulendorf, Germany will be the site for the 2nd tournament in the series. Special prizes have yet to be announced but it is expected that the tournament will also give away a minimum of 2 free seats to its weekly $100,000 guaranteed tournament.

In an official statement from Ultimate Bet, Stephan Reschke, Ultimate Bet’s Marketing Manager for Germany, said that

“We want our German players to feel as welcomed and as much a part of the Ultimate Bet community as their North American poker peers, and our live events will help create familiarity with the UB brand and the company that we are today, with an emphasis on security, safety, and the welfare of our players.”

The German-based initiative is in response to the growing number of poker players in the country and Ultimate Bet has planned to have live tournaments each weekend for the next few months. Among them are a series of monthly $10,000 guaranteed tournaments scheduled to take place at the Casino Flamingo, which is located near the German border with the Czech Republic, enabling participants from both countries to converge at one venue.

Future European initiatives are expected to be announced in the near future though have not been announced as of today.
