Two New Poker Hall of Fame Inductees

by Poker Team

As part of the ceremonies for the final table of the main event of the World Series of Poker held on November 9th, Dewey Tomko and Henry Orenstein will be inducted to the Poker Hall of fame. Tomko has become popular through televised events like the World Poker Tour and he is a very successful WSOP player. Tomko alone has played in thirty five consecutive main events of the WSOP, which is more than any other player. Although Tomko has never won the main event, he has been the runner up twice and taken three bracelets in other events.

Orenstein on the other hand, while not as well known as Tomko, is probably more responsible for the recent poker explosion than anybody else. Orenstein is in his eighties and won a World Series of Poker Bracelet in 1996 for Seven Card stud. He has also played in some really big cash games over the course of his career. Orenstein is also a survivor of the Holocaust. His real claim to fame however is that neat little thing called the hole cam that has revolutionized the way spectators watch poker. That’s right, Henry Orenstein is the patent holder for the coveted hole cam. Orenstein is also produces high stakes poker and Heads up Championship, two well known poker shows on NBC.

Tomko and Orenstein will join thirty seven other members of the Poker Hall of Fame when they are inducted at the main event final table. Some of the greatest names in the game are in the hall and sixteen of them are still alive and playing today. Jack Binion, Benny Binion, Doyle Brunson, TJ Cloutier, Phil Hellmuth and David Reese are just a few of the poker superstars in the hall of fame.
