T.J. Cloutier 1998 Poker Ring on eBay

by Jeremy Olson

Poker pro T.J. Cloutier’s recent struggles with money have been no secret to the public. Back in 2010, it was widely reported that a Plano, Texas pawn shop was selling Cloutier’s 2005 WSOP gold bracelet. In the end, Cake Poker purchased the bracelet at a final auction price of $4,006.

This isn’t the only poker hardware that Cloutier appears to have pawned though because an eBay seller named “directjewelrydeals” is auctioning off a 1998 Legends of Poker Championship ring from Cloutier. The list price is currently at $2,500, although the seller is also asking for the best offer too. Part of the eBay listing reads as follows:

Speaking of the World Series, T.J. has placed four times in the top five of the $10,000 Main Event including two second place finishes to Chris Ferguson in 2000 and Bill Smith in 1985. He has six bracelets for his wins in Omaha in 1987, Pot Limit Hold’em and Omaha 8 or Better in 1994, Omaha Pot Limit in 1998, Razz in 2004, and $5k buy-in No Limit event in 2005. He has also placed on the World Poker Tour, at the Reno Hilton and the Bicycle Casino.

With six WSOP bracelets and $9,975,314 in live tournament winnings, Cloutier is no doubt one of the most legendary poker players in history. However, it’s highly questionable as to if this poker ring is worth $2,500, or even anything close to that amount.

The ring is 14k gold, but you can find similar rings around $400. And as for the collectible value, Cloutier’s WSOP bracelet went for $4k, and it doesn’t seem like a 1998 Legends of Poker side event ring would quite be worth $2,500. So far, six offers have been made and only one is still being considered.
