Titan Poker Reduced Rake causes Traffic Boost

by Jeremy

Titan Poker’s decision to slash their cash game rake by 50% or more made huge poker news headlines earlier this week. Apparently, the rake reduction did more than just make headlines since Titan’s traffic has been increasing in the aftermath of their “Rake Break” promotion.

Before we get into the traffic, it’s worth mentioning that this new Titan Poker promotion reduces many Fixed Limit and low stakes NL cash games’ rake by 50%, and the rake for high stakes NL ring games are completely eliminated. To see more about Rake Break, check out our previous article.

Going back to the traffic, Titan’s network - iPoker - had cash game traffic at around 3,350 players a week ago. But reveals that their average traffic has increased quite a bit to 4,250 players. Their peak is better than last week’s (6,500 players) too since it’s sitting at 7,197 players.

Rake Break appears to be attracting quite a few more players to the iPoker network lately, but they are still sitting behind both Party Poker and PokerStars at the moment. Party Poker has also experienced quite a boost since they eliminated tournament rake in an effort to pick up new players. Yesterday, their ring game traffic actually peaked at 10,000-plus players for the first time since 2009.

As for PokerStars, they are far and away the top site in terms of player traffic. Currently, their 7-day average is 23,400 cash game players, and their peak is 39,895 players.

Of course, with the way that Titan and Party Poker have cut down their rake, they figure to close this massive gap a little bit in the race to pick up Full Tilt Poker players. Full Tilt has been forced to stop running poker games ever since their license was suspended by the Alderney Gaming Control Commission.
