Superstar Showdown 4 Coming This Weekend - Isildur1 vs. Eugene Katchalov

by Omar

We don’t know what the powers that be over at PokerStars are paying their new, shiny toy, Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom, but whatever it is, they sure seem to be getting their money’s worth. On a daily basis, news regarding Blom makes their way onto the headlines, most times dwarfing any other poker related news item out there. Whether a competing news item centers around the greatness of Phil Ivey, the releasing of a schedule for an upcoming tournament series, or juicy rumors surrounding a top player’s actions away from the felt, the Isildur1 moniker, and thus by default, PokerStars as well, is always at the forefront. Without question, a poker news cycle just seems incomplete if the Swedish pro is not making his own headlines.

The latest hijinks is the announcement that this weekend, Blom will again be squaring off in another installment of the Superstar Showdown. This will be the 4th go round already as Blom is riding a 2 match winning streak since dropping the first match to Isaac Haxton. This time, Blom’s foil will be Eugene Katchalov, who is an outstanding all around player both live and online. Katchalov is no stranger to the big stage as he is a solid, tough competitor having posted big wins on the World Poker Tour, European Poker Tour and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in addition to 18 World Series if Poker cashes.  With those credentials, it would seem that Katchalov possesses the patience necessary to thrive against Blom’s highly susceptibility to tilt.

Regardless of who comes out in top of this one, PokerStars, and Blom will once again be dominating the weekend headlines.
