Shaun Deeb dismantles PokerStars SCOOP Record - Wins Fifth Title

by Jeremy

A few days ago, Shaun Deeb pulled off the incredible feat of winning his fourth career PokerStars SCOOP title (third this year). By winning both a third SCOOP title this year and fourth overall, Deeb set the record for most Spring Championship of Online Poker victories.

Now you’d think that the online poker pro’s good fortunes would run out eventually. However, the hot streak continues as Deeb completely obliterated the previously discussed record by winning his fourth 2012 SCOOP title and fifth career victory.

The latest win came last night as Deeb beat out 85 players in a $2,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament. And what’s amazing is that he doesn’t even consider his four 2012 SCOOP victories any incredible accomplishment. The Mexico-based poker pro said the following about his good run, “It’s not as sick as everyone is making it out to be. All fields were under 100 people and amazing structures. A lot of (my opponents) aren’t full-time mixed-game players.”

He would go on to say that the back-to-back SCOOP tournaments Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom won was more impressive. The reasoning is that the Swede beat out a couple of fields that collectively totaled nearly 9,000 players.

Even still, it’s obvious that Shaun Deeb has some major momentum heading into the 2012 WSOP. He commented on this momentum by saying, “Running hot makes you think clearer, and people are less likely to be tricky versus you because they’re afraid you’ll read their soul.” But don’t expect Deeb to trade in money for WSOP glory since he said, “I’ve been around for a long time and played a lot. I don’t play in a way to become the best. I play in a way to win the most money.”

Despite the fact that he’s more worried about the money, it will be interesting to see if Deeb can win his first WSOP gold bracelet.
