Selbst, Somerville coaching WSOP Finalists

In a couple of weeks, the 2012 WSOP Main Event final table will battle for an $8.52 million top prize. And you can guarantee that both Jess Sylvia and Russell Thomas will be well-prepared when chasing this fortune since they commissioned some famous poker coaches.

Thomas, who is fourth in chips with 24.8 million, hired Jason Somerville to guide him through the nine-player final table. Somerville won a WSOP bracelet last year and has $2.45 million in live tournament winnings so Thomas thought that he could gain some valuable experience here.

Interestingly enough, other people will be able to get some valuable experience too because Somerville is taping the coaching process and putting it online. He tweeted about this by typing, “I’ve spent more time on this project than anything else I’ve ever done and I’m really proud of it. My sincere thanks to all who’ve contributed!” The footage has already been made available and can be found on YouTube.

As for the current final table chip leader Sylvia, he’s hired Vanessa Selbst to serve as his coach. Selbst is arguably the best female poker player in the game today and has already established herself as one of the best all-time as well. She’s captured two WSOP gold bracelets and has accumulated $5.48 million in live tournament winnings.

With Selbst’s help and a large chip lead, Sylvia has a very good chance of walking away with the 2012 WSOP ME title this year. Of course, Thomas will certainly be looking to provide some stiff competition thanks to the coaching services of Somerville so it’ll be an interesting final table.
