PokerStars Russian Poker Tour

PokerStars is continuing its quest to take over the world, one poker tour at a time. This week, PokerStars announced the launching of the RPT-Russian Poker Tour. The popular online site has been expanding its operations for some time now working with brick and mortar poker sponsors to establish poker tournaments all around the globe and now adds Russia under its geographical umbrella which already included the European Poker Tour (EPT) and Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT).

The first event of the PokerStars Russian Poker Tour is scheduled to be held in the city of St. Petersburg from January 25th through February 1st. The buy in for the tournament is $5,000. In addition to the 1st St. Petersburg, Moscow is also on the schedule, hosting a $10,000 buy in event from February 22nd through 28th.

Russian Poker Tour Satellites and Qualifiers

To gear up for these historic tournaments, PokerStars is running qualifying tournaments to enable its players to represent the site on the world’s newest poker stages, illustrating that you don’t need to be of Russian descent to participate in the Russian Poker Tour. An $8,000 prize package includes a tournament buy-in, hotel, and extra cash for expenses.

RPT Satellites

RPT St. Petersburg satellites are running now until December 30th, 2008. The satellites run every Monday through Saturday at 10:30 AM EST. Just click “Events”>”Special”, and search for the RPT satellite tournaments.

The timing of the announcement is just about perfect for PokerStars as its newest Team PokerStars Pro just happens to be a native of Russia.
