With the 2010 World Series of Poker wrapping up next week in Las Vegas as the main event is in full swing, the eyes of the online poker community is quickly shifting towards online poker’s crown jewel tournament series, PokerStars 2010 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). Featuring 62 events in all of the major poker forms, players from all over the world are expected to take their best shot at online poker glory. This year’s installment is expected to be event bigger than last year’s version in which over $50 Million in guaranteed prize money was awarded.
The festivities will be kicking off on September 5th and each day will feature 2 or 3 major events. This year’s opening day promises to be enormous with 3 events already scheduled. Kicking things off will be a $215 6-Max No Limit hold em tournament. Then, just 2 hours later, there will be a high roller event with a buy in of $10,300 which is expected to attract the best of the best. Capping off the opening day festivities is day 1 of a two day $215 tournament.
Starting on September 5th, the 2010 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) will play out on PokerStars. A total of 62 events will be held and, while the guarantees have not yet been announced, over $50 million was given out last year when 45 tournaments were run.
Three events get underway on September 5th. What normally is a busy Sunday online will now also include a $215 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max event starting at 13:00 ET. Two hours later, look for a $10,300 No Limit Hold’em High-Roller tournament. Also taking place on the opening day of the 2010 WCOOP is a $215 Two-Day event. All three opening events will be no limit hold ‘em.
This year’s series will feature tournaments in all of the following formats; Badugi, Five Card Draw, Omaha, Razz, Eight Game, Stud, Triple Draw, Single Draw, Razz and HORSE. Indeed, there is something for everyone this go around.
