PokerStars Closes in on Milestone

by Omar

Time never stops, this is true in life, but even more so in the world of online poker.  Games are going on continuously, all day and all night, 365 days a year.  With no closing time, the volume of games is extreme.  No site embodies these facts quite like the world’s largest online poker site, PokerStars.

It doesn’t seem like very long ago that the site was in the news for their exciting 50 Billionth hand promotion.  The milestone marked the first time any online site had reached the magical number.  It should come as no surprise then that they are now on the verge of becoming the first site to deal 60 billion cash game hands.  It makes sense considering they have the most tables, most poker forms and most importantly, the most players. At any given time of the day, there are about 30,000 players online with a peak of about 50,000.  However, there will likely be a few hundred thousand more players looking to strike it rich in their upcoming 60 Billionth Hand Promotion.  In what amounts to being at the right place at the right time, PokerStars will be giving away lots of free cash to lucky players who happen to be dealt into any one of their special milestone hands. There are 300 regular milestone hands in all, which means 300 sets of winners will be very happy that they logged in to play some poker.

Beginning at hand 59.7 billion, any player dealt into a milestone hand will receive a base payout of $50 plus $50 for each VIP Player Point (VPP) they earned during the previous 50 hands at that table.  As an added bonus, the winner of each milestone hand will have their prize doubled.

The 60 billionth hand is much more lucrative than that, about 10 times more in fact. Players dealt into the ultimate milestone will be awarded a base prize of $500 plus $500 for each VIP Player Point (VPP) they earned during the previous 50 hands at that table.  Additionally, the winner of the hand will also pick up a nifty prize of $60K just for being at the right place at the right time.

If there ever was a right time to play on PokerStars, this is that time.
