It doesn’t seem that long ago that PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site was celebrating milestone hands and offered an exciting promotion to give its customers a plethora of opportunities to share in the festivities with them. In the blink of an eye, they are at it again, this time celebrating the approach of the 40 billionth hand played on the site. The milestone is particularly impressive given the fact that they have done so in just 8 years of existence. Other poker sites have been around longer, but none have approached their immense volume in such an abbreviated amount of time. This time, they intend to celebrate the occasion in the style that their customers have grown accustomed to.

In an email sent to their customer base, signed by Team PokerStars pro, Daniel Negreanu, they announced numerous ways in which players will be invited to take part. For starters, beginning with hand # 39,601,000,000, players at the table playing the milestone hand will be awarded cash prizes based on the amount of frequent player points they have earned at the given table leading up to the big hand. For every point they earned at the table over the previous 40 hands, they will have gained a $40 bonus. So if a player earned 5 points in that span, they will receive $200. In addition, the winner of the milestone hand will also have the size of the winning pot doubled.

This go around, tournament poker players can get in on the event as well as PokerStars is offering special events for both their larger signature events as well as Sit and Go Tournaments. For the February 21st Sunday Million tournament, the guaranteed prize pool will be at $4 million with at least $1 million going outright to the winner.

In addition, on February 14th, the site will hold a separate $1 million guaranteed tournament for just a $40 buy in, making for a tremendous windfall for whomever is lucky and good enough to win the tournament. If that’s not enough, there are also many sit and go specials as well.

During the week of February 14-21, there will be a series of 40-player sit and go tournaments with buy-ins of $1.10, $11, $22 and $55.Winning players of each of these sit and go’s will also earn a share of a special $40,000 prize pool for each buy in tier. This amounts to an extra $160,000 being just given away at the end of the promotion.

With so much going on, there is plenty of reasons to keep warm at PokerStars during the cold, winter months.
