Peter Eastgate Professional Poker Player Profile

Peter Eastgate - WSOP 2008 Final Table Player

Peter Eastgate - Poker playerThere are few 22 year olds who can claim that they have won $63,324 in their lifetime, but Peter Eastgate, from Odense Denmark, certainly can. And if this young Dane should happen to win the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, he will become the youngest champion in the series long history, surpassing Phil Hellmuth who was 24 when he won in 1989. Coming in the final table, Eastgate is 4th with 18,375,000 chips to his name. Considering he has only been playing poker for three years since turning 19, that’s a pretty impressive stack. Eastgate is one of the November Nine, the final 9 players at this year’s WSOP.

Peter Eastgate Bio

Jacob Rassmussen was asked about his fellow Dane and his style of playing compared to that of Gus Hansen. Rassmussen stated that the comparison should be the other way around, that Hansen was the first Eastgate. Eastgate’s style of play is volatile and the entire poker community is anxious to see Hansen and Eastgate go head to head in what would be a very heated competiton.

Primarily an online player with Ladbrokes Poker, Eastgate is considered an internet poker professional in his country. He enjoys short handed and heads-up high limit cash games, somewhere in the level of $200/$400.

Peter Eastgate Poker Tournament History

Peter Eastgate won the 2008 WSOP over Ivan Demidov pocketing $9.1 Million for his first place finish. Eastgate is the youngest player to ever win the World Series at 22 years old.

Eastgate’s offline playing is just as formidable as his online and he’s finished well in quite a few live tournaments. He’s also played in the Poker Millions heats but he did not qualify both times he made it. He placed 32nd in the 2008 EPT Scandinavian Open in February 2008 earning $16,416 and placing 9 in the first Irish Open 2007 in April 2007 earning $46,714.

It is interesting to note that Eastgate has been mistaken for another online poker player ‘Halfrek’ because they hail from the same town, but bloggers from Denmark firmly insist that the two players are not the same person.
