With the main event of the World Series of Poker scheduled for November of 2008, the final “November Nine” left standing get a chance to take a breather before starting the process of honing their skills in order to be crowned the winner and receive one of the coveted WSOP bracelets.

Dennis Phillips Biography

Dennis Phillips is an account manager for a commercial trucking company who happened to win his seat at this year’s WSOP while playing a $200 buy-in satellite tournament at Harrah’s Casino in St. Louis, Missouri. He lives in Cottage Hills, Illinois, a small suburban town. He has commented that many of the online poker sites have already approached him about sponsorships and other deals in addition to offers of mentoring, but so far he has declined them all.

Dennis Phillips’ Poker Tournament History

Phillips is ecstatic to have mad it this far and he has commented to the press that he wished they were just playing on instead of waiting until November. Who could blame him? Prior to his WSOP 2008 tournament standing his only major tournament cash winnings was $2,368 at Event 11, the No Limit Texas Hold’Em Tournament during the 2007/2008 WSOP Circuit Event on September 7, 2007, and $2,192 at Event 14, the No Limit Texas Hold’Em Tournament during the 2007/2008 WSOP Circuit Event on September 9, 2007.

If Phillips should be the last man standing at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, he is guaranteed to win at least $900,670. He beat out his final table Nicholas Sliwinski, Jason Riesenberg, Tiffany Michelle – the only woman left in the competition at the time – Scott Montgomery, Dean Hamrick, Gert Andersen, Anthony Scherer, and Peter Eastgate. He will be going up against Montgomery and Eastgate once again at the Main Event.
