Poker Player Garrett Adelstein lands Spot on “Survivor”

It’s been years since high stakes poker player Jean-Robert Bellande was on Survivor: China. But this year, another rounder will be appearing on the hit CBS show because Garrett Adelstein has been cast in Survivor: Cagayan.

Looking at Adelstein’s live tournament stats, nothing leaps off the page. He’s earned $122,766, which includes a $48,847 cash in the 2005 WSOP Main Event. However, the 27-year-old is actually a pretty respected player.

Adelstein said that he’s spent over 2,000 hours studying poker strategy. Thanks to all of this time spent studying strategy, it’s no wonder why he’s become one of the world’s most successful online poker players, grinding under the name “GMan.” Here’s a look at what a few players from the poker community tweeted about him:

(Mike McDonald) GL @GarrettAdelstei in survivor. Only guy Ive ever seen sell action, see how soft WSOPME is, run up chips & buy pieces back @ MU #Confidence

(Ryan Daut) There’s a poker player on the next survivor, and hes actually really fucking good. Played with him in a WPT at the bike, very very tough.

Given how good Adelstein is at online poker, it’s no surprise that he’s going to be part of the “Brains Tribe” on Survivor: Cagayan. Besides the Brains Tribe, there’ll also be Brawn and Beauty tribes as well.

Anybody who’s wanting to watch Adelstein on the show can see the premier on February 26th, 2014. Assuming he can do better than eight place, he’ll have outdone JRB, who took eighth on Survivor: China in 2005. Here’s a look at an interview from Adelstein about the upcoming show:
