Online Poker Players Gearing Up For 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

by Omar

With 3 months left in 2010, the attention of the poker world is beginning to look ahead to what’s in store for 2011. While it’s true that the World Series of Poker Main Event is still over a month away from concluding, at the end of the day, the people most looking forward to it are the participants, their friends and their families. All other poker players who are not involved are now beginning to make their plans to take part in the first live series in the new year, the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

As in years past, this year’s event will be taking place at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in Paradise Island in the Bahamas and will run from January 5th to 16th, featuring a dazzling array of tournaments, indeed, something for everyone. Among the game types featured in this year’s series are No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Eight or Better, HOE, Triple Draw (A-5, 2-7, Badugi, Baduci, and Badacey), Eight Game, Stud Eight or Better, and Chinese Poker. Turbo, and heads-up tournaments will all be available. In total, there will be 50 tournaments taking place with over $25 million in guaranteed prize money.

PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event Buy-in and Qualifiers

Satellites are already underway at the host site and it is believed that a sizeable percentage of the PCA Main Event entries will be online qualifiers. There are some real super powered high buy in events being held as well. The Main Event’s Buy in is $10,300, but there will also be a $10,000 Turbo Six-Max contest, a $25,000 High Roller tournament, and a $100,000 Super High Roller tournament.

PokerStars is really going to roll out the red carpet for this year’s online Main Event qualifiers as each will receive prize packages worth $15,780, which includes the Main Event Buy-in, a nine-night stay at the Atlantis Resort and an additional $1,000 in spending money. PokerStars execs are quite excited for this year to be even bigger than last year’s field of 1,529 players. There are already 170 lucky players that have earned their Main Event seat with many more by the day.
