Nenad Medic wins first WSOP Bracelet
June 4, 2008
The first bracelet of the 2008 WSOP goes to the “Medic” in the house, Nenad Medic, who won the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha championship, Medic’s first WSOP bracelet in his career. Nenad beat out a star-studded final table that included fellow Full Tilt Poker Pros, Patrik Antonius and Andy Bloch and walked away with $794,112 in winnings.

Final Table at the 2008 Pot Limit Omaha Championship
Here were the players at the final table and their chip counts going into that final table:
Seat 1: Mike Sowers - 675,000
Seat 2: Chris Bell - 455,000
Seat 3: Amit Makhija - 525,000
Seat 4: Patrik Antonius - 230,000
Seat 5: Andy Bloch - 2,115,000
Seat 6: Mike Sexton - 1,130,000
Seat 7: Phil Laak - 425,000
Seat 8: Nenad Medic - 1,200,000
Seat 9: Kathy Liebert - 285,000
As players were eliminated, the final two left were Nenad Medic and Andy Bloch. Going into heads up play, Medic held a chip lead of 4.9 Million chips to Bloch’s 2.1 Million. It took almost an hour but Medic ended up taking Bloch.
Final Hand
Nenad Medic: 5h 7h
Andy Bloch: 9h 9d
Board: 8h 5s 4h Turn: Jh River: 5c
Andy Bloch ended up calling “all-in” with his overpair but the 5 of clubs (5c) on the River did not help Bloch and Medic won the bracelet with his flush.
Nenad Medic
Medic, a member of team Full Tilt, was born in Serbia, but was raised in Canada. Medic’s first major win was in 2005 when he traveled to the World Poker Tour’s Caribbean Adventure and finished 6th out of 461 players. He also placed third at the Australian Poker Championship, and won a WPT event at Foxwoods. Chalk up another major win for Nenad Medic. I think we will see quite a bit of this player in the future.
