Mini-UBOC Starting Next Week at UB.com

by Omar

Let’s face it, the average online poker player isn’t a high roller with the game nor financial means to lock up with the great players like Phil Ivey, Tom “Durrrr” Dwan or Viktor “Isildur1” Blom.  When high-end events such as the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) runs on PokerStars, the biggest money tournaments with the larger buy-ins are something that the average poker player can just try to satellite their way in.  Every once in a while however, an online site is willing and able to throw the majority of their customer base a bone to really cut their teeth into some big money events.

Over at UB.com, this is precisely what they will be offering their customers, a chance to make some real money and build their bankrolls in some high octane guaranteed money tournaments with buy-ins that won’t hurt anyone’s wallet. Called the 2011 Mini-UBOC, the tournament series will get underway on Sunday, April 10th and run through the 17th, meaning 8 days of tournament excitement for virtually anyone who wants in.

The party gets underway on the 10th at 2:05PM ET with a $50K guaranteed no limit tournament with a reasonable $50 buy in. The main event of the series will be the $100K guaranteed no limit event on the 17th at 4:05PM.  The buy in for this event is a still relatively low-priced fee of $75.

Unlike tournaments on some other sites, UB.com is having many of its events’ begin in the afternoon in the US to allow European players to take part without having to wait around until midnight for the action to begin.  Additionally, UB.com will also be running a promotion dubbed the King of Cashing for the Mini-UBOC series. As part of this promotion, the player who cashes the most times in the series will automatically earn a seat at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event.

UB.com’s sponsored pros are expected to make their presence felt as well. Players such as Prahlad Friedman, Joe Sebok, Maria Ho, and Tiffany Michelle will all have bounties on their heads in each tournament they participate in. At minimum, the player who knocks out a UB pro in a specific tournament will have their buy-in refunded, essentially turning their event into a freeroll.

The time is ripe to get in at UB.com without having to spend a lot in order for a chance to win a lot.
