Live Boeree Joins Team Ultimate Bet

by AintLuck.com Poker Team

Team Ultimate Bet just got a lot prettier.  It was announced yesterday that British poker pro, Liv Boeree, has signed on to become the latest member of Team Ultimate Bet, joining a team that is expanding slowly but surely.  She joins a roster of many notable players, mostly online pros which include “Hollywood” Dave Stann, Michael Binger, Gary “Debo34” Debernardi, Mark “P0ker H0” Kroon, Shawn “westtexasman” Rice, Adam “Roothlus” Levy , Brandon Cantu, and Tiffany Michelle.  Given the scandals which previously had rocked Ultimate Bet and caused them to lose several of their better known professional partners, the addition of someone of the high visibility and marketability of Boeree is welcome news for the company.

Boeree stated she was excited about the prospects of being part of the same team as Annie Duke and 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Phil Hellmuth. In a statement issued by the company, Boeree said,

“It’s an honor to play with the two people who helped launch my poker career. Annie and Phil are two of my favorite players, so to sit on the same team as them is a bit of a surreal experience, but one I’m definitely proud of.”

Boeree is quite a popular figure and her face and name are recognizable to poker aficionados. She has media experience which includes Gutshot TV, the Daily Express, and Challenge TV.  In covering poker events, she was introduced to the ins and outs of the industry.  As of late, she has been distancing herself from her former media career by earning respect from her competitors through several recent strong showings.  For example, in January, she finished seventh in an AUD $1,100 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament held during the Aussie Millions for AUD $19,000. Also, in April, she was able to capture a preliminary tournament at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship, winning a preliminary tournament, finishing third in another, and finishing 37th in the $25,000 buy-in Main Event.  If that weren’t enough, in May of 2008, Boeree won the $2,000 buy-in Ladbrokes Poker European Ladies Championship for $42,000.

The signing of Boeree displays a continuous upswing for Ultimate Bet as it seeks to make a full return to respectability among online poker circles.
