John Racener appears on “Entourage”

Not far removed from a fairly successful 2011 WSOP - where he took third in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Championship ($171,122) - John Racener appeared on a recent episode of the hit HBO series “Entourage.” Racener’s scene involves, what else, but poker as he’s playing with Andrew Dice Clay, and some other people when Johnny “Drama” Chase (one of the main characters) walks in.

The vast majority of the scene’s dialogue is between Dice Clay and Drama, while Racener mainly delivers ridiculous facial expressions (not meant to be comedic) during his time on camera. Of course, if you didn’t know it was John Racener, then maybe he wouldn’t be so noticeable. In any case, here is a video of Racener’s debut acting performance.

While Racener’s performance may not get him recognized by a mainstream audience, he still holds plenty of clout in the poker world for finishing second to Jonathan Duhamel in the 2010 WSOP Main Event ($5,545,955). In addition to his second place Main Event finish, he has also won a 2007 Atlantic City WSOP Circuit event ($379,392), finished eighth in the 2007 WPT Borgata Open ($166,161), and placed fourth in the 2010 WPT Five Diamond Classic ($232,271). According to Hendonmob, Racener has $7,267,801 in live tournaments winnings, which ranks him 30th all-time among live tourney players.

As for Entourage, the successful show is in its eighth and final season. The story line is loosely based on the life of actor Mark Wahlberg (also executive producer), and it mainly focuses on the lives of fictional movie star Vincent Chase, his brother Johnny Drama, and Vincent’s two childhood friends, Eric “E” Murphy and “Turtle.” Once the show ends, there are plans to make an Entourage movie.
