Next Simpsons Episode to feature Jennifer Tilly

Earlier in the year, we discussed how female poker standout Jennifer Tilly was set to star in an episode of “The Simpsons.” And now that episode is finally here since it’s going to air on FOX this Sunday at 8:00 pm.

According to Wikipedia, the show title is “Gone Abie Gone” and it sees Homer Simpson put his daughter’s (Lisa Simpson) college fund online. You can read the synopsis below:

Homer puts Lisa’s college fund into online banking as a way to fight back against big banks. Meanwhile, Grampa Simpson mysteriously disappears from the Springfield Retirement Castle, and leaves behind clues to parts of his life that the family never knew before, like the time he was married to a black singer named Rita LaFleur and when he owned a restaurant with Marvin Hamlisch.

Going beyond the Wikipedia description, Jennifer Tilly comes into the equation because Lisa needs to play online poker in order to “win” her college money. So Lisa watches an online poker instructional DVD where Tilly explains how to play better.

Tilly seems to be a natural fit for this episode of The Simpsons because she’s done plenty of voice work in the past. Some of her most notable roles include being the voice of Bonnie Swanson from the animated series “Family Guy,” Celia from the movie “Monsters Inc.,” and Mrs. Camille Stout from the movie “Stuart Little.”

As for Tilly’s poker career, she’s notched several big-time tournament finishes which include winning the 2005 WSOP Ladies Hold’em event along with $158,335, finishing 12th in the 2008 L.A. Poker Classic ($61,610), and taking first in a 2010 Bellagio Cup VI event ($124,455). Overall, Tilly has collected $738,331 in live tournament winnings and continues to add to this total every year.
