Erick “E-Dog” Lindgren is unequivocally one of the best poker players in the world, but one thing has eluded him during his career, and that was the coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet. That has changed as of today. Erick can sleep a bit easier tonight as he took home the Gold Bracelet in Event Number 4, the $5,000 Mixed Hold’em tournament, beating an impressive poker pro field including the final table with Justin Bonomo.
Event #4 2008 WSOP - Mixed Limit Hold’em
Event #4 at this year’s WSOP is a mixed limit Hold’em event which combines both limit and no limit play into the same game. For the first half of each level, players must compete in limit format and players then switch to no limit play in the second portion of the level. To compensate for the increase in volatility of the game in no-limit, the blinds are moved to half the limit structure.
Final Table at Event #4
Going into the final table, the players and the chip counts were as follows:
David Rheem — 750,000
David Williams — 590,000
Justin Bonomo — 400,000
Roland de Wolfe — 335,000
Isaac Haxton — 227,000
Erick Lindgren — 201,500
Andrew Robl — 190,000
Howard Lederer — 180,000
Pat Pezzin — 160,000
The final table took about 9 hours to play but after all the eliminations, the final heads-up match was between Erick Lindgren and recently signed Bodog Poker pro, Justin Bonomo. Lindgren is a member of team Full Tilt Poker, so we had dual not only between poker pro heavyweights, but bragging rights in the Internet poker world between Bodog and Full Tilt Poker.
