Durrrr Challenge Restarts after Month Layoff

by Omar

Much to the disappointment of online poker fans, and fans of Tom “Durrrr” Dwan in particular, the second go round of the Durrrr Challenge had come to a screeching halt over the past 4 weeks. At first, poker fans were ecstatic that the Dwan vs. Antonius match-up had been put on the back burner to make room for the match-up against Dan “Jungleman12” Cates. However, the current lull in play actually had a legitimate reason, both players were busy focusing their attention on the World Series of Poker Europe.

Now that the series has drawn to its conclusion, the two were set to get down to business and that is just what they did for the first time since August 30th. In a rather short session as compared to the last couple of sessions they played, the duo combined for 582 total hands. Luckily for Dwan, this time, Cates didn’t exactly have his way with him, though Dwan did not cut into the deficit by very much. In fact, he was only able to shave $1,400 off of it.

The resuming of the challenge seems to come at a good time for both players as neither fared particularly well across the pond. On several occasions, Cates Tweeted about his struggles in both live tournaments and the ring games.

Meanwhile, it appears as though the first Durrrr Challenge is all but dead. There have been no sessions played between the two in 3 months at Full Tilt Poker and Durrrr holds a $2 million advantage. It is unknown if the two have decided to settle the bet quietly.
