Details on the Ultimate Bet Freeroll Challenge

by Poker Team

The last six months has seen virtually all of the major online poker sites bless their customer bases with promotion after promotion, vaulting each into seemingly daily headlines. While some promotions are more innovative than others, and people have different opinions over which is best, everyone can agree on one thing – that the real winners are the members of the online poker community.

This week, it was announced by (sister site of Absolute Poker) that they are launching a new promo which on the surface appears to be a jazzed up popularity contest between its stable of site-sponsored pros.

The UB Freeroll Challenge

Dubbed, the Freeroll Challenge, this new promotion is a series of six separate freeroll tournaments scattered throughout 2010. The guaranteed prizepool for each tournament begins with $2,000 in cash. Each of the freerolls will be “hosted” by one of’s pros and to add more intrigue, each of the hosts will add a once-in-a-lifetime dream experience. For example, the first event, taking place on February 17th, Joe Sebok is the host and the winner of the tournament will also win the opportunity to skydive with Sebok in Las Vegas. However, should the winner of the “Sebok’s Leap of Faith” freeroll have an aversion to jumping out of a plane, UltimateBet will award an alternate prize.

The players at UB aren’t the only possible winners here. Of the 6 UB pros who host a tournament, the one who attracts the most participants to their tournament will win something as well. They will have earned the title of King or Queen of the UB Freeroll Challenge and be given $2500 to cover expenses for a crazy night in Vegas. Though the list of hosts is not yet final, possible featured players include Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Brandon Cantu, Liv Boeree, Michael Binger, and Tiffany Michelle.

Expect this series to generate more publicity as each tournament approaches and the lifestyle prizes are announced It will be interesting to see who will be the first to try to outdo UB on this innovative promotion.

The main problem with the is that members are in huge numbers and it can be a pain in the neck, if you want to survive and win. For these particular tournaments I follow other site’s articles as skills and execution of strategies are tested in such tournaments.
