Phil Hellmuth still alive at the WSOP

With all the eliminations of big name players, it is nice to see some famous poker players still competing at the 2008 Main Event. Phil Hellmuth is alive and currently 8th in chip counts with 196,000 chips. Let’s take a look at one of the big hands that leaped him towards the top of the leaderboard.

After losing some pots earlier, Hellmuth came back with a big pot during this sequence. Hellmuth grabbed a stack of 5,000 chips and put his opponent all in. The player at seat #5 made the call. Here is what they had:

Seat 5: A 10

Hellmuth: A K

Flop: Q Q 10

Turn: K

River: A

After this hand, Hellmuth was up to 195,000 chips.

Leaders after Day 2B

At the end of the day it was Alex Outhred at the top of the leader board with 486,800 chips and Victor Ramdin in second place with 358,000 chips. The overall chip leader when you combine Day 2A and day 2B is Schaedlich who holds 801,00 chips. Day 3 starts today, so we’ll see what other notables will be eliminated.
