Beth Shak coaching Husband Seekers for $1k an Hour

by Jeremy Olson on January 12, 2016

We’ve heard some pretty outrageous poker coaching fees before. But what about the $1,000-an-hour fee that Beth Shak is charging to coach women to meet their Mr. Right?

The celebrity gossip column at New York Daily News broke this story while adding that Shak is also working on a luxury poker-chip set line. Here’s the word from NY Daily:

“It’s the perfect gift for the gambling fan on your Christmas list. Three-time World Series of Poker finalist Beth Shak is launching a luxury poker chip set in a hand crafted box with gold embossed cards. Card shark Shak is also offering up private poker lessons at a $1,000 an hour and promises to teach women how to meet Mr. Right at the poker table. Side note: A pal of Shak’s tells Confidenti@l that the entrepreneurial card queen claims to have never lost a game of strip poker.”

We’re not sure how the strip poker thing factors into Shak’s new entrepreneurial efforts. Nonetheless, she might get some bites on her man-hunting coaching, given that she was once married to millionaire day trader Dan Shak.

As for Beth’s poker career, well, there doesn’t seem to be much to report these days. She’s made $481,809 in live tournaments, but she also hasn’t cashed in a tourney since 2013. Her shining moment came when she took second in a 2007 WSOP $3k NLHE event ($328,683) and landed a sponsorship deal with Full Tilt Poker (back when they were sponsoring anybody). Shak also managed to appear on some poker TV shows too before the Poker Boom ended and her tournament winnings dried up.

Time will tell if Shak’s latest ventures amount to much. But given that she isn’t much of a poker player anymore, it’s hard to see her luxury chip sets flying off the shelves.
