It truly is good to be Patrik Antonius. Being the winningest online poker player in 2009 isn’t enough for the Full Tilt Poker pro. He now has the distinction of winning the world’s largest ever online pot to his growing list of poker accomplishments.

Previously, Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Urindanger held the largest pot record set earlier this earlier with a $723,000 pot. This pot which gave Antonius the record shattered the old mark and was worth $878,959 and happened during a hand of $500-$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha and took place with both players having effective stacks of $400,000. Surprisingly, the hand was relatively timid preflop. Isildur1 raised to 3,000 and Antonius just called holding 6h-Ah-Qc-9s.

The flop was 5h-7h-Qs giving Antonius the top pair, the nut flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. Isildur1 bet 5k and Antonius quickly raised to 21K and was called

The turn was the Ace of diamonds. Antonius, now having top two pair, led out for $48,000 and Isildur1 raised to $192,000. Antonius, holding just a strong hand with many redraw outs decided to shove all in for over $400,000 total and Isildur1 called having Antonius covered. Isildur1 showed Qd-10h-Ks-As for the same top two that Antonius had but the only redraw outs he had was needing a non-heart Jack to make Broadway.

The river was truly a beautiful card for Antonius as the 8 of diamonds fell, giving Antonius a 9 high straight and the monstrous pot. Though stunned, Isildur1 couldn’t feel too bad as overall, he is up millions over the past month. For Antonius, it’s just another day in the life. Powered by this particular hand, when the dust had settled, Antonius had taken Isildur1 for $2.5 million and is now up close to $9 million for 2009.
