Antonius Again Wins Largest Poker Pot in History

by Poker Team

As baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra would say, “It’s déjà vu all over again.” Less than a week ago, Patrick Antonius took down the largest pot in online poker history against Swedish high stakes cash player Isildur1. Just a short couple of days later, the two players again combined to break that record and once again, it was Antonius who took down the massive pot at Full Tilt Poker

The session was remarkable for Isildur1 in the fact that in a short span, he managed to be involved in 5 of the 6 largest pots in online history, losing most of them, while all were worth over $800K.

Largest Online Poker Pot

Last week, Antonius and Isildur1 set the record with a pot worth $878,000, breaking a year old record. This time, the record stood for a mere 48 hours. This time, the record would seem to be able to stand for significantly longer as it would take a perfect storm for anyone to break the new record, which stands at $1,356,946.

In this hand, Antonius held Ah-3s-Ks-Kh. The flop was 4s-5c-2h and a raising and re-raising war ensued with both players getting all their money in the middle. Isildur1 held 6d-7d-8h-9s giving him open ended and gutshot straight draw outs, while Antonius already held a 5-high straight. So, yes, he got it all in on a big time draw, but a draw nonetheless. The turn brought the 5 of hearts and the river the 9 of clubs, two gigantic bricks and Antonius won the $1.3 million with his flopped wheel.

Isildur1 burst onto the poker scene just a month ago, by quickly taking $3 million from Tom “Durrrr” Dwan en route to posting a remarkable $5 million in profits in less than a month. Less than 2 weeks later, he has given most of his winnings right back and is now up just $750K. From what we’ve seen, he can possibly be one more losing hand away from being in the red and quite possibly, financially ruined.
