Absolute Poker Loses Lacey Jones as Sponsored Pro

by Poker Team

After showing a commitment to increasing their presence in the online poker world, often embattled online poker site Absolute Poker suffered a setback yesterday as news broke that sponsored pro Lacey Jones has decided to sever her relationship with the company. The news, first broken by Bryan “The Icon” Micon on his poker forum, seems to indicate that the decision was both mutual and amicable.

Jones, one of the more attractive female poker players out there, and an aspiring model and actress, has kept mum about the decision, save for a Twitter tweet made on May 25th which read

“Today is a new chapter of my life and I’ve never been more excited! Get ready for some BIG things everyone!”

The news is so fresh that Jones’ image still appears prominently on Absolute’s website and poker software which would seem to indicate that the move was not the company’s decision as in those cases references to leaving pros are removed rather quickly, sometimes before an official announcement is made. At present time, Absolute has not issued an official statement.

Absolute Poker, along with CEREUS Poker Network sister company had built quite a bit of momentum beginning in the second half of 2009 before the latest round of security breaches and unsubstantiated cheating allegations have created a storm cloud over them. Many observers and industry insiders believe that the CEREUS network, despite what they believe are their best efforts to eliminate any further shenanigans to regain public trust, that any more proven wrongdoing could be the final straw. With the World Series of Poker kicking of today, losing such a visible player amounts to a minor disaster.
