A Look at Phil Hellmuth’s Ambitions from his New Book

by AintLuck.com Poker Team

In its weekly extract column, community site Cardrunners have quoted Phil Hellmuth’s life ambitions, from his new book “Deal me in”. The way he swaggers around Harrah’s casino floor, donning a vibrant Ultimate Bet hockey jersey, you could mistake him for Joseph with his technicolor dreamcoat. It seems that being ‘flashy’ is part of Hellmuth’s genetic makeup – he notes that his 5th greatest ambition in life, at 19, was to ‘Buy a nice car’.

At $24.99 Phil’s book is no micro-stakes purchase, and neither is it a New York Times bestseller (another one of Hellmuth’s life ‘goals’) but it does offer a good range of content. It documents the trials and tribulations of twenty poker players, from veteran Doyle Brunson to young sensation Tom Dwan. Meanwhile, Hellmuth’s search for a record 12th bracelet at the 2009 WSOP has so far been fruitless. This may come as a surprise to the man who recently proclaimed on Poker After Dark to be the “greatest Texas Hold’em player in the world”.
